| As encouragement to the growth of secure email, Thawte is offering free digital certificates to individuals. These are detailed instructions on signing up and using secure email. If you dropped in from an outside link or search engine, please start at Secure Email. Outlook ExpressThese instructions will walk you through exporting your certificate out of one computer so that you can also use it in another location. Don't ever request multiple certificates for the same email address; you end up with multiple private keys and life gets really evil. Exporting Your Certificate for TravelOpen Outlook Express. Name your file. If you like most of the people on the planet and
regularly loose files in that big blob of hard drive on your computer,
click browse and select a folder you can find, like My Documents or
the Desktop. Name your file. It should automatically have a .pfx extension. You will now be prompted by Windows for your secret password to allow the export. Enter it and *poof* you now can place that file on a disk and take it safely to your new location. In theory, you could email it to yourself, but since you don't have your certificate loaded at the other location yet, you wouldn't be able to read the email without loading the file from the email...ouch...my head hurts. Just use a disk. Importing Your Certificate at the New LocationDetailed instructions coming soon...just go to the Securty Tab and click Import, you'll figure it out from there. :) Please proceed to Last Thawtes. |
